Khajuraho

Welcome to Khajuraho!

Khajuraho lies in the Chattapur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh – the so called heart of India.
It’s especially known for its ancient temples of which some are dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries.  The temples are famous for their carving and sculpture work and are also known as “Kamasutra Temples” as some of the sculptures depict erotic scenes.

Besides the temples Khajuraho is also known for its vibrant festival culture, so make sure you check the festival dates before planning your trip!

Which is the best time to visit Khajuraho?

The best season to visit Khajuraho is in the winter (October till March). During this time the average temperature remains close to 20 °C. However, you should be aware that the winter season is also the peak time for tourism. So if you like to travel outside the high season, we recommend the monsoon season, between July and September.  The rain turns Khajuraho and its surroundings into a flourishing green area.  And with an average temperature of around 28°C the weather is relatively pleasant compared to the summer month. In the summer the temperature can rise to 47 °C.

To get around Khajuraho and its surroundings we offer a taxi service with our privat driver. We also rent out scooters or motorbikes if you want to be more independent.

For restaurant or dining recommendations you can speak with our reception staff.
